The hotel
Not a hotel like every other
Those who stay at the Keramikhotel Goldener Brunnen are very welcome and may feel comfortable, but they should also know it's not a hotel like any other. A centuries-old town house with a lot of flair and history awaits you, small and fine (29 individual rooms), carefully and warm-heartedly managed by the host Thomas Krapfenbauer - always striving for the well-being of the guests.
Why "Keramikhotel"?
The idea came to the host in the summer of 2006, when a number of ceramic artists had rented a room in the Hotel Goldener Brunnen, which he had just taken over. Inspired by a good bottle of red wine, the host came up with some analogies between this material and his hotel when he heard the keyword "ceramics", which suggested the nickname "ceramic hotel": Pottery is down-to-earth, is produced with the help of water (proximity to the Traunsee) and fire (warmth, vitality) and has a long tradition in the town of Gmunden.
Ceramics as art and in everyday life
Visible signs of the centuries-old connection of the Keramikhotel Goldener Brunnen (hostel since 1545) with the ceramics town of Gmunden are the numerous ceramics that you encounter in the hotel at every turn - be it works of art or everyday ceramics (tableware and accessories) that combine dignified craftsmanship and simple design.
